Hair Extension Care Tips
1. Gentle Brushing
- Use a soft-bristle or extension-specific brush.
- Start from the ends and work upwards to avoid tugging at bonds or wefts.
- Brush hair several times a day to prevent tangles.
2. Proper Washing
- Use sulfate-free, extension-friendly shampoos and conditioners.
- Wash hair 2–3 times per week to prevent dryness.
- Apply conditioner to mid-lengths and ends only—avoid roots or bonds.
- Rinse thoroughly to remove product buildup.
3. Drying & Styling
- Pat hair dry with a towel; don’t rub.
- Always fully blow dry your hair after washing (allowing extensions to air dry can cause unnecessary stress, matting and pre-mature wear), apply a heat protectant.
- Keep flat irons, curling irons, or blow dryers on medium or low heat, avoiding direct contact with bonds or tape.
4. Sleep Care
- Braid or tie hair loosely before sleeping.
- Avoid sleeping with wet hair.
- Use a silk or satin pillowcase to reduce friction.
5. Swimming & Water Exposure
- Wear a swim cap when swimming in chlorinated or salt water.
- Rinse hair immediately after swimming and apply a light leave-in conditioner.
6. Regular Maintenance
- Schedule professional maintenance every 6–8 weeks for tape-ins, I-tips, K-tips, or nano extensions.
- Check for slipping, matting, or tangling and fix promptly.
7. Avoid Harsh Products
- Skip heavy oils or products near the bonds or tapes.
- Avoid strong chemical treatments (bleach, relaxers) directly on extensions.
8. Hydration & Care
- Keep hair and extensions hydrated with leave-in conditioners or lightweight serums.
- Trim ends regularly to prevent split ends.
